Nigerians have been urged by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to pray more ahead of the new year.
He thinks that the nation’s plight can be turned around by prayer and more hard work.
On Wednesday, the former president issued the admonition while talking to journalists in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
In spite of current instability, he also encouraged Nigerians to be thankful to Heaven, socio-economic and political problems slowing down the country’s development and advancement.
“We must offer thanks in every way. 2020 has been a difficult year for the entire world, particularly for us in Nigeria.
We have gone from one type to another of vulnerability. From instability to a weak economy. We have COVID-19 on top of all that, and I think we have to work hard while we pray hard, so that 2021 will be a glorious year for us in the coming year,’ said the former President.
He, however, observed that, since they have an option to do what is right, Nigerians should not blame God for the situation, but rather themselves.
“Unless we work to make that happen, that won’t happen. For our condition, we should not have to blame God. We’re meant to blame ourselves.
Nigeria doesn’t have to be bad, and there is no reason for every Nigerian to go to bed starving. That we have such a condition is the preference of our leaders and supporters alike. So, my hope is that 2021 will be a great year for God.
